You think the redevelopment of Long Island College Hospital couldn't get any more convoluted, and then it does. SUNY, which owns the financially struggling medical center, is considering opening up the flooragainfor buyers with alternative proposals for the facility. An earlier RFP led to proposals from some big names, including Don Peebles, NYU Langone, Brooklyn Hospital, and Fortis Property Group. But accepting new ideas might lead to a bidder who wants to keep a full-service hospital on the site (something community members and elected officials want) without sacrificing that for residential or commercial components, the way the others do.
