A decrepit pier once used by Con Ed will be demolished and replaced with parkland by 2015. The Waterside Pier sits between 38th and 41st Streets on the East River, and it's been abandoned and deteriorating since Con Ed left if in 2010. The new pier is still in the design phase, but it will be 800-square-feet and raised enough to be protected from storm surges. Based on funding, there will likely be only one entrance and exit, located in the adjacent Glick Park. [DNAinfo]
