Williamsburg may be a sea of cheap, bland glassy new buildings, but plenty of people are building interesting homes and the Times is ON it. In addition to two shipping container homes we're familiar with, the Times mentions a new project that sounds very interesting: "a 15,000-square-foot building for an art-loving couple in their 60s who recently sold their 6,000-square-foot loft in TriBeCa." The modernist structure will replace a three-story building on Grand Street between Wythe Avenue and Berry Street, and it will have ground floor commercial space with apartments above "for the couple's daughters."
