Rupert Murdoch Drops $57.5M On Four Floors At One Madison

New, 51 comments

Troubled past? What troubled past? The days of lawsuits and disgraceful resales are long gone at the building formerly known as One Madison Park. The reborn building, One Madison, attracts celebrities and billionaires—one of whom is Rupert Murdoch, who is buying the top four floors of the building for a whopping $57.5 million $57.25 million. A press release from Related announced the sale, expected to close next week, and the Journal names Murdoch as the buyer. The sale includes the bonkers 6,850-square-foot triplex penthouse, and, because that's obviously not enough space, a three-bedroom unit that takes up the 57th floor. The 5BR/5.5BA penthouse, with a wrap around terrace and statement staircase, was listed for $50M, while the three-bedroom was asking $16.5 million. The spaces will be delivered to Murdoch raw, and he'll be adding his own finishes, and, presumably, combining them. Since the sale includes two units, no one is calling this a record breaker, but it's worth pointing out that the Walker Tower penthouse just sold for $50.9 million last month, taking the title of the most expensive unit ever to sell downtown.

For those keeping track, this sale brings the building to 75 percent sold. Only eight units remain.
