East Villagers Can Thank Ben Shaoul For 2nd Ave.'s Black Box

New, 1 comment

Ben "The Sledgehammer" Shaoul is not living up to his tried-and-true nickname with 31 Second Avenue, because instead of demolishing anything, he's adding three stories atop an existing three-story structure.

A rendering posted by BuzzBuzz reveals the 11,586-square-foot black-box-of-a-building, designed by Brent Porter, that will bring 10 renovated and newly built residential units to Shaoul's favorite neighborhood. The commercial ground floor will host an Unleashed, Petco's attempt at a mom-and-pop-style pet shop, according to Bowery Boogie. Shaoul acquired the property in late 2011 for $5.6 million... which is only about one-tenth of what his parents are currently suing him for. The development is expected to finish construction within the next few months.
