New, 11 comments

MIDTOWN—The first rental unit at superscraper One57 (pictured above) has been leased, a tipster informs us. The one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit that looks out to the back of the Essex House marquee rents for $13,000 per month. There is currently one more active rental in the building: a two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom unit that wants $29,000 per month. There are currently five active sales listings in the 94-unit, 90-story building. [CurbedWire inbox; previously]

PROSPECT HEIGHTS—Newtown Creek Alliance historian Mitch Waxman will be hosting a lecture about the rich and varied history of Gowanus's sister Superfund site, Newtown Creek. Waxman's been documenting the 3.8-mile-long (literally) fluid border between Brooklyn and Queens for several years. The talk will be held on Thursday, February 27 at 8pm at the Brooklyn Brainery.
