Classic Beresford Apartment Wants An Even $10 Million

New, 32 comments

Well-known as a "power building," the Beresford at 211 Central Park West has counted actress Glenn Close, diplomat Richard Holbroke, and tennis star John McEnroe as a few of its famous residents, as well as a bunch of regular, non-famous millionaires, including the sellers of this 3,600-square-foot corner unit. City documents show the owners as John and Elizabeth van Merkensteijn. He's an attorney in the financial industry, she's a movie producer (IMDB lists Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV and Rowdy Girls as two of her works), and they seem to spend a lot of time attending social events in New York and donating to foundations. Their home, just listed for $10 million, looks like what you'd expect for a semi-power couple living in a very classic Upper West side building. There's a library, a formal dining room, a large renovated kitchen, lots of crown moldings, and a wood-burning fireplace.
