Greenwich Village Society for Historical Preservation: 2; Equinox: 0. After a short brawl between the preservationist powerhouse and the luxe gym chain regarding an advertisement along the gym's façade in the historic district at 97 Greenwich Avenue, without DOB and LPC permits, GVSHP is reporting that the gym took down the ad this morning. Now that this is the second occasionthe first in 2010that Equinox has had to retreat to their corner in defeat, pummeled by locals and preservationists, we wonder if they'll seek yet another fight once they've regained their strength. If the pattern persists, we predict a another bout in 2018.
