George W. Bush's Niece Is Buyer of Annie Leibovitz Compound

New, 29 comments

The mystery buyers behind photographer Annie Leibovitz's trio of West Village townhouses have emerged as Lauren Bush Lauren, granddaughter of George H.W. Bush and niece of George W. Bush, and her husband David Lauren, son of Ralph Lauren, according to the Post. The couple paid $28.5 million for the townhouses, which Leibovitz had accumulated for $6.1 million between 2002 and 2003. Since just under a year ago Chelsea Clinton bought a 4BR in NoMad, the trend is now clear: presidential progeny are moving further and further downtown. Expect Malia Obama to buy a converted Chinatown loft sometime around 2024 and Tricia Nixon to move to Battery Park City right after that. Anyway, let's all take a last look at the 13-fireplace compound before the Bush-Laurens do whatever they're going to do to it.
