NYC Real Estate Chronicler Sells Own Alwyn Home for $2.875M

New, 5 comments

Writer Michael Gross has long chronicled tales of exorbitance and wealth of New York's real estate elite, and now, on the eve of the publication of his latest book, he listed his own two-bedroom apartment at the Alwyn Court on West 58th Street for $2.875 million.

The profile in The New York Times traces Gross' own real estate history, from the humble studio he once rented on West 13th Street for $175/month, to the two-bedroom on the parlor floor of a Washington Square townhouse he bought in the 80s for $470,000, to his current two-bedroom at the Alwyn, now in contract. The apartment features nine west-facing windows, a 30-foot long parlor, eleven foot ceilings, parquet floors, cove moldings, a walk-in closet, and a discount at Petrossian and Petrossian Bakery, which are located on the ground floor of the building.

Gross' newest book, House of Outrageous Fortune: Fifteen Central Park West, the World's Most Powerful Address, is out next week.
