A building on Park Avenue near 116th Street has collapsed after an explosion was reported this morning around 9:30 a.m. The FDNY is on the scene, and they tweeted that the building is located at 1646 Park Avenue, which Property Shark lists as a five-story walk-up apartment building. It's unclear what caused the explosion or how many people were injured. Service on the MetroNorth line is temporarily suspended as debris from the explosion landed on the elevated tracks. UPDATE: The Times reports that two buildings, 1644 and 1646 Park Avenue collapsed, and at last one person died in the accident, while 16 others were injured.
