Opponents to a controversial plan to lease parts of NYCHA public housing developments to private developers in order to raise funds have decided to withdraw their lawsuit. Filed back in November, the suit tried to block the city from accepting bids for luxury high-rises on the playgrounds, parking lots, and other open spaces in NYCHA complexes. But now that Mayor de Blasio has promised to scrap the land-lease plan and consider other alternatives, the plaintiffs plan to head to the negotiating table instead of the courtroom.
