Ben "The Sledgehammer" Shaoul is converting the top 21 floors of Verizon's old Art Deco building (Ralph Walker-designed, natch) on West Street into condos, and little has been disclosed about the project thus far. Ismael Leyva has been tapped as the architect, and now BuzzBuzzHome reports that though a DOB permit was disapproved in November, the project is moving ahead via a clue from Elliman agent team Luxury Lofts' Instagram account, which also cites interior design firm Grade, tasked with working on the amenity spaces and model units. Grade's website says it is working on the lobby, pool, sauna, and fitness center. [BuzzBuzz; previously]
