A small fire broke out at One57 just before 9pm last night, damaging the building's loading dock. Around 75 firefighters were reportedly on the scene, and the fire was contained in an hour, with no injuries. According to The Wall Street Journal, witnesses also said that scaffolding around the building and another building also caught fire.
This is the latest in a long line of problems plaguing the 75-story tower and its developer Extell. Two years ago, a crane famously collapsed during Hurricane Sandy; last year, an unstable crane-load shut down 57th Street; and just last week, a $27 million lawsuit was filed against Extell by a contractor claiming non-payment.
