Plans to refurbish the Metro Theater on Broadway and West 99th Street have stopped and started over the years, with the latest heartbreak coming last fall when the Alamo Drafthouse backed out of plans to convert it to a movie theater. The community really wants the Art Deco 1933 space to be occupied again, and now Councilman Mark Levine is pushing to turn it into an arts space with public and private funds.
