A Hotel Is Finally Coming To This Long-Stalled MePa Site

New, 1 comment

After years of inactivity on the empty lot, the 99-year lease holders at 412 West 15th Street are making moves to bring a long-stalled hotel to the site. Meilman Family Real Estate, who has owned property in the 'hood since the days when meat was actually packed there, has teamed up with Rockpoint Group and Highgate Holdings to lead the development, where a hotel has been proposed by the Meilman's for some time. It's still unclear whether the newly inked-on developers will go forth with the 25-story, 158-room hotel the Meilman's filed plans for in 2008 and were issued permits for in 2009, or start fresh with plans of their own, TRD says. Similarly, the financial terms of the deal are still unavailable. Highgate and Boston-based Rockpoint have a short history of getting stuff done in this city: they also own the Manhattan at Times Square Hotel on Seventh Avenue between 51st and 52nd street, where they're planning an addition of 23-stories.
