The Hudson River Park Trust will begin meeting with the City Planning Commission next week to talk about selling 1.6 million square feet of air rights in an effort to garner $500 million for the park's much needed infrastructure improvements. "It's a positive step, but the air rights have to be transferred in a way that is appropriate, and in proper proportions, to the other side of the highway," CB 2 chairman David Gruber told Crain's. The trust, community stakeholders, and the Department of City Planning will work together to come up with an agreement that would allow the cross-street transfer of air rights, which is currently prohibited.
