Lifestyles of the Rent-Stabilized

New, 8 comments

Landlord Ken Rosenblum has been trying to clear out the tenants of 25 Thompson Street in Soho in order to make facade and foundation repairs that he says are desperately needed. Violations have been issued for things like gaps in the floorboards and blocked fire escapes, but the FDNY and DOB both found the building to be structurally sound. Tenants of the 28 apartments, three of which are rent-stabilized, think Rosenblum is trying to get them out so he can make all of the units market rate. The two sides are now battling it out in housing court. [DNAinfo]
