A building once belonging to the Ruppert Brewery is no more, now that Related Companies has swooped in and excavated the site in preparation for construction of a 35-story building at 205 East 92nd Street. The Times notes, "Like a beer drinker's Brigadoon, a red-brick vestige of the enormous Jacob Ruppert & Company brewery in Yorkville emerged for a few hours this week before disappearing, this time forever." Tuesday's demolition unearthed more than bitter feelings towards the loss of the historic space: artifacts like old beer bottles and a brick possibly dating back to the brewery's 1885 founding were discovered in the rubble.
