The 71st floor of the Chrysler Building was once home to a celestial-themed observatory, and Curbed National's got the photos to prove it. The delightfully innocent mid-century photographs highlight the space's "celestial motif, with sun rays painted on the walls, and Saturn-shaped lighting globes hanging from the ceiling." The observatory was opened to the public in 1945, 15 years after construction halted on the tower. More photos, right this way. [Curbed National]
