Crown Heights is experiencing gentrification at an astounding rate, and longtime tenants hope to stop overzealous landlords from pushing them out by banding together. In October 2013, tenants from a dozen buildings in the neighborhood formed the Crown Heights Tenant Union, and they recently held a rally outside 1059 Union Street, where BCB Property Management has been offering rent-stabilized tenants buyouts so they can deregulate their units.
