Coney Update-o-Rama

In the latest development of the Coney Island Amphitheater saga, enraged Coney Island gardeners who populated the West 22nd Street slice-o'-land are suing the city over the decimation of their community garden. The garden was razed, along with the landmarked Childs Restaurant, to make room for the amphitheater, eatery, and public park championed by former Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. Under the lawsuit, community activists are challenging the environmental review that led to the approval of the park, and are accusing the city of destroying the public garden appointed by the Parks Department. In response, a consultant for the city says the park was "decommissioned" in 2004. ['Stoner; previously]
