The new bidding process for Brooklyn's Long Island College Hospital began this week with a forum where hospital supporters detailed the reasons why LICH must remain a hospital. The event brought out all the previously interested developers, like Fortis PropertyGroup, who said they will "see what to do to satisfy the community's needs," but it also brought new faces, including Toll Brothers and Memorial Sloan Kettering. Developers evidently "seemed more receptive to the idea of a full service hospital" after the event, but we doubt thoughts of a condo conversion have magically disappeared. [BK Eagle; previously]
