Tour the Roof Deck, New Units of Amenity-Rich Gotham West

New, 11 comments

Event: A cocktail reception to "celebrate the arrival of spring and the opening of Gotham West's 32nd floor Sky Terrace," plus the mega rental building's new-to-market top-floor units.
In the house: Brokers, brokers, and more brokers. The occasional plus one. Everyone looked like they could be on Million Dollar Listing.
Dress code: Suits & dresses; other dark attire suitable for a February cold snap
Menu: A full bar, a speciality cocktail of lavender vodka lemonade and champagne for toasting, plus cucumber- and grapefruit-infused water. Mini-sliders, mini-lobster rolls, mini-fish tacos, mini-truffle grilled cheese. Etc.
Overheard: Waitress, holding a tray: "I have never seen more ravenous people." "When you add in the development south of here, Hudson Yards, it's the next frontier." "If your value is about getting more amenities and more space and more closets, but being further from the subway, then this is your building."

On Eleventh Avenue and between 44th and 45th streets, Gotham West started leasing its ">long-awaited 554 rentals last summer. When we toured the place, the model units were decorated to the nines and the courtyard was open, but the other amenities were under construction. No more. Now that the second crop of units has hit the market—studios (from $2,750) through three-bedrooms (in the $8,700 range) on the 22nd through 32nd floors of the massive tower—it was time for a party to give brokers (and Curbed) the grand tour of the fully finished product.

The amenities are nothing short of impressive: a gym bigger than many franchised ones, with its own spinning and yoga studio and schedule of classes, a big lounge with pool table, art gallery, fireplace and seat-on-a-swing, a funky neon-lit kids room, and a bike valet. Gotham West Market, which our sister site Eater has covered extensively, serves as a kind of built-in food court, bar, coffee shop, and grocery story for the building. Then thereare the outdoor spaces: a courtyard with a reflecting pool and an elevated bamboo frond-lined deck with fire pit and seating; and the 32nd floor space, with a movie screen, full bar set-up for parties, deck chairs for sunbathing, misting apparatus for hot days, and grassy lawn area—all boasting stellar city and river views to the east, south, and west.
