Mega Sales

The 42-story commercial office tower known as the Mobil Building and "steeped in real estate lore" is set to sell for more than $900 million. David Werner, who the Journal describes as "a New York investor who buys big properties while keeping a low profile," signed a contract to buy the 1.8 million-square-foot 150 East 42nd Street from Hiro Real Estate LLC. Goldman Sachs played a key role in the deal, as the firm controls the debt on the building. Harrison & Abramovitz designed the 1950s building, and it was originally home to the Socony Mobil Oil Co.
