See All of Hell's Kitchen in 2 Minutes; Gowanus Canal Exhibit

New, 2 comments

HELL'S KITCHEN—Filmmaker Colby Moore recently shot a video called "25 Blocks of Hell," and despite the gruesome name, the 2.5-minute film is a fun portrait of the west side neighborhood. "Hell's Kitchen is one of Manhattan's most manic neighborhoods," writes Moore. "It has a gritty charm that has endured, even in the face of widespread re-development. It's an odd section of the island where strip clubs and taxi-cab fleets manage to co-exist with elementary schools and freshly planted residential skyscrapers." [CurbedWire Inbox]

HELL'S KITCHEN—Photographer Nathan Kensinger, a Curbed contributor, is helping curate a new exhibit, "Combined Overflow," at art space Proteus Gowanus about the creative communities that have sprung up along the Gowanus Canal and Newtown Creek. It runs from April 26 to May 24, with an opening reception on Sunday the 27th from 6 to 8 p.m. [CurbedWire Inbox; previously]
