Ranking NYC's Most Prolific Developers By Square Footage

New, 2 comments

For its April print-edition cover story, The Real Deal plumbed the depths of residential building permits, pulling up all of the ones filed between the beginning of 2011 and February 2014 in order to determine which developers are building the most homes in New York City right now. They assessed the permits by both unit number and square footage, and the winner? No surprises here: Extell, with its many projects on the rise in Manhattan, comes out on top. Other big names—Moinian, JDS, Related, and Bruch Eichner's Continuum—round out the top five. Lesser-known but up-and-coming developers, like Rabsky Development, also made the list, with six Brooklyn projects and one Queens one in the pipeline.
