This $5.388M Unit Just Became Queens' Most Expensive Condo

New, 9 comments

If the headline seems redundant, that's 'cause it is: a new penthouse unit in Long Island City became Queens' Most Expensive Condo when it hit the market this morning for $5.388 million, one-upping its very short-lived predecessor. After only 20 days on the market, the former title-holding three-bedroom, three-bathroom ground-floor unit asking a puny $3.58 million has been overtaken by a similar three-bedroom, three-bathroom penthouse unit, both in Long Island City's The View on Center Boulevard. The new title-holder is asking a notable $2,555 per square foot, exceeding even the average price-per-square-foot of similar buildings in Battery Park City. Queens' Most Expensive Condo, weighing in at 2,108-interior-square-feet, comes with a 1,148-square-foot wrap-around terrace, a modern fireplace, and a high-tech speaker system throughout. Interested buyers better act quick: if the in-contract former title-holder is any indication of how rapidly this unit will get knocked off the market, they have just a few days to weigh-in.

[Update: Welp, this deal has yet to push through (and it's 3/1/16), meaning that the borough's former priciest pad remains on top.]
