Community Board Wire

Hotel labor unions are in full support of the proposal to require hotel developers to go before community boards to obtain special permits. They believe that since current laws allow for hotels to be built as-of-right, there will soon be a glut of new hotel rooms, which would drive down room rates and ultimately lower their wages. Developers and hotel owners oppose the plan, obviously: "Developers don't look forward to spending a year to two years going through a political process." Ya think? [WSJ; previously]
