Hudson Yards' First Tower, Boulevard, & Platform Take Shape

New, 2 comments

There are a lot of different pieces to the Hudson Yards megaproject, and now that the weather is nice, the west side site is a bonanza of construction. The first tower, the platform over the rail yards, the pedestrian boulevard, and the 7 train extension are all currently underway (as is the third and final phase of the neighboring High Line). Of the aforementioned pieces, the 7 train extension will be the first to reach the finish line, opening in late summer or early fall. The first phase of the 10-block long Hudson Boulevard greenway is also expected to open this year, while the first tower, the 52-story, Kohn Pedersen Fox-designed 10 Hudson Yards, will follow, opening next year. The platform work will be ongoing, but the entire first phase should be finished sometime in 2018. Two photos of the tower were uploaded to the Curbed Flickr pool, and New York YIMBY has some images showing the state of the rest of the site.
