As AirBnB continues its quest to become legal in New York, there's more bad news for the short-term rental company. The Real Affordability for All Coalition has joined the opposition, claiming that AirBnB's recent tax promise is BS and that the site's services influence higher rents by letting people turn "affordable housing into illegal hotels." The state is still trying to subpoena the site to identify users, and a recent analysis of AirBnB listings found that at least 64 percent are definitely illegal sublets. [NYDN and NYP; previously]
