And now, the latest from Racked NY, shopping and retail from the sidewalks up...
1) Tribeca: Pearl Paint abruptly closed last week, and it has been a sad goodbye. A listing, touting the site's great development opportunity, the site appeared at the beginning of the month, and it's unclear if it has sold. But it was promised to be delivered vacant.
2) Nolita: Rag & Bone uses the blank exterior wall of their shop at Houston and Elizabeth Streets to display public art, and the newest mural is an optical illusion by Joe Hill, pictured above.
3) Midtown: To celebrate Earth Day, Anthropologie's new window displays depict the annual migration of the monarch butterfly. The butterfly sculptures, made from wood, fabric, and metal, will be sold in a silent auction, and proceeds will benefit the American Forests organization.
4) Also Midtown: Those giant fancy Faberge Eggs that were hidden around the city are being auctioned off by Sotheby's and Paddle8. For a $31K, you can buy one designed by Zaha Hadid, or for ten times more, you can get one by Jeff Koons.
