After decades of financial troubles, the historic Players Club in Gramercy Park was hit with a foreclosure action last week. The club owes more than $264,000 in back taxes, and the trust the controls the club now wants that debt repaid, either in cash or the mansion that the club occupies. Last year, the city put a lien on the house, but that was purchased by the trust, which filed the foreclosure action that blatantly tells the club, "You are in danger of losing your home."
