Earlier this week, in advance of court proceedings in Albany, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman unveiled a list of the Airbnb users with at least one "illegal" listing on the site, and Business Insider reached out to the top five offenders to try to get their side of the story. "Dana" of the Box House Hotel, "Jay," Peter Chen, Eran Haviv, and Metro Inc. all have, or had, multiple listings. A few of these folks have pretty interesting backstories, like Chen, who says he made some $45,000 using the site last year but also paid taxes on it: "He did not realize he was breaking the law and would like to keep his profile on the site offering only lawful listings."
