Trump International Penthouse Has Lots of Views, Wants $43M

New, 15 comments

The brokerbabble for this just-listed 51st floor penthouse at the Trump International manages to use all of the most brokerbabbly of brokerbabble: "trophy penthouse," "luxurious renovation," "picturesque views," "sweeping views," "expansive views," "glorious views," (yes, four different types of views), "architectural masterpiece," "the most glamorous home on the market"—yada, yada, yada. But we would expect nothing less from an apartment asking $43 million. The design, according to the Journal, is the product of a gut renovation by SLC Interiors and Hottenroth + Joseph Architects, and it is certainly an improvement from what we normally see in the building. The views, if it wasn't obvious, are a key selling point; nearly every room looks out onto Central Park. The 5,000-square-foot home has a 32' by 29' living and dining room, walnut built-ins, in-laid hardwood floors, a library, and a master suite with his-and-her bathrooms and a 19-foot-long walk-in closet.

The current owners bought the unit in 2007 for $21.25 million, and they decided to sell because "they aren't spending enough time in New York." They had purchased the unit from Johnson & Johnson heir and compulsive real estate buyer and seller Libet Johnson, who listed a different, way less impressive, unit in the building last year.
