Auto shops in Willets Point displaced by the development of housing and a shopping mall next to Citi Field inked a deal last month to convert a warehouse in the South Bronx to an indoor auto mall. The city's Economic Development Corporation has pledged $2 million to help with moving costs, despite the lawsuit filed by impacted businesses against the city and developers earlier this year claiming the forced move is unlawful. Bronx residents worry that the influx could bring a resurgence of violence and auto thefts to the neighborhood, as well as threaten their livelihood. [NYDN; previously]
