Demolition Wire

New, 1 comment

Despite the best attempts by preservationists, the Tod Williams Billie Tsie Architects-designed Folk Art Museum will soon be razed. The Museum of Modern Art filed an application to demolish the building last Friday. The facade will be dismantled and preserved, but the demo permits outline the removal of all above-grade stories, plumbing fixtures, and mechanical equipment. The work is part of MoMA's 40,000-square-foot expansion plan, which includes linking the current building with 14,000 square feet in the building that will replace the Folk Art Museum.
