Always on the lookout for the next institution to be ousted by the unrelenting vagaries of a hot real estate market, Jeremiah's Vanishing New York reports that Gracie's Corner diner at the corner of 86th Street and First Avenue is set to close. Why? To make way for a new condo development, according to employees; the sign posted said they were booted due to "recent building events out of our control." The diner will move to Second Avenue, but what of the corner lot on First? No permits have been filed yet, but the development will join the likes of SHoP's nearby project, the Charles, and the Azure. Please send any intel to the tipline. [JVNY]
