The battle over New York Methodist Hospital's expansion plans expansion plan is escalating. Attorney Stuart Klein—who represents Park Slope residents opposing the plan—has served the hospital with a subpoena demanding "books, papers, and records" related to the hospital's application for zoning variances. New York Methodist did not honor the subpoena because they say Klein is basically just some guy pretending to be a judge, but next week, he plans to petition a real judge to order the hospital to comply. The Board of Standards and Appeals will vote on the variances on May 20. [NYDN; previously]
