After a century of operation, the Salvation Army Chinatown Shelter, the organization's last outpost on the Bowery, has closed its doors and will soon be turned into a hotel with luxury condos. The Salvation Army's community center is moving to Bensonhurst, but many of its elderly patrons won't be able to follow it there, and, with rents rising and Chinatown shrinking, they're not sure where they'll be able to go next.
