Public Education Advocate Lists UWS Mansion for $12 Million

New, 4 comments

A five-story townhouse at 121 West 81st Street just hit the market for an even $12 million. The house is exceptional and unexceptional at the same time, featuring most of the standard trimmings found in renovated multi-million dollar Manhattan houses. It has six bedrooms, a garden, a few fireplaces, a library, and a full-floor master suite that has a private terrace and a gigantic bathroom. The dining room has a 20-foot tall wall of windows that overlooks the garden, and original details like carved wood paneling were preserved. The owner/seller is Lisa Belzberg, the founder of PENCIL (Public Education Needs Civic Involvement in Learning), a nonprofit whose mission is pretty self-explanatory.
