South of Chambers Street is experiencing a condo surge with the Alliance for Downtown New York claiming that 1,346 condominiums and 1,500 rental apartments are planned or already under construction. Here are the biggies: Robert A.M. Stern's 30 Park Place will bring 157 condominiums to the neighborhood at an average price of $3,200 per square foot, developer Ben Shaoul will be bringing 161 condos to the upper floors of the former Verizon building at 140 West Street, and the 191 condos at 50 West Street will average $1,900 per square foot.
