A small consolation for the East Villagers worried about the rental building at 200 East 11th Street being turned into a glassy monstrosity: the finished product will not be nearly as glassy as an original rendering suggested. It will be refurbished, however, and relaunched next month by Benchmark Real Estate Group, who purchased the building for a staggering $57 million back in December. According to a Bold New York spokersperson, via The Real Deal, the rents "will range from $3,500 for a studio to $6,000 for a one-bedroom to as much as $10,000 for a two-bedroom." The developers are employing a doorman and adding a gym with yoga and massage studios and shared outdoor space. Apparently, both the interior and exterior are being redesigned with, from the look of the rendering, the corner windows being lengthened on the avenue-facing sides and possibly a small addition on top.
