Cool App Thing

Tunnel Vision is a great new app that uses augmented reality to visualize data points on MTA maps, and a solid way to pass your morning commute. By holding your phone up to a map, the app will use a bunch of data sets to "create stories" about the neighborhoods we live in. These include showing the estimated arrival time of every train in the system using MTA's official schedule; the number of people coming in and out of each station using historical turnstile data; median income pulled from the US Census; and the percentage of people who speak only English at home. So basically, if you like maps and New York City stuff, this is a must-have. [FCD]
