[Before and after images both by Matt Lambros at After the Final Curtain.]
The city is months into its restoration of Flatbush's Loew's Kings Theater, a once grand and glorious movie palace that has been rotting away since 1977. Photographer Matt Lambros started the blog After the Final Curtain to chronicle abandoned performance spaces, turning his lens on Brooklyn's own completely decrepit gem in 2011. With the support of the Theatre Historical Society of America, which is acting as publisher, he's going to put all those awesome images into a book, slated for release in early 2015. Below, check out some of his work, captured before renovations began in January of last year, as well as some in-progress shots taken during the ongoing construction.
