Want to hike, or hit the beach? Not having a caror not having the patience to take public transit or commuter trainsis no longer a convenient excuse to sit inside your (possibly) air-conditioned apartment and watch TV. Because this summer, a Park Slope-based store that sells all kinds of outdoorsy gear is launching a Trail Taxi, which will pick up aspiring hikers at various points in Manhattan and Brooklyn and drop them at trailheads in the Hudson Highlands, Catskills, or Shawangunk mountains. The shuttle also goes to Jones Beach. Cost: $80 roundtrip, or $40 one-way. Benefit? Some much-need Vitamin D. And, gasp, exercise. [Gothamist; official]
