Fake Names

New, 2 comments

A New York Times restaurant critic recently visited a restaurant in Ridgewood, a land so foreign, it warranted a new name: "... to a first-time visitor, clutching a MetroCard, the scene is desolate. You are 10 stops out of Manhattan on the L line, in the borderland where Bushwick, Brooklyn, blurs into Ridgewood, Queens. (Welcome to Quooklyn.)" Because, as Brokelyn says, "if a place is near Brooklyn it must secretly be part of it." "Quooklyn," which should never, ever be repeated, takes the cake for the worst fake neighborhood name ever invented. [NYT via Brokelyn]
