Once-Contested PLG Housing For Homeless Almost Complete

In typical NIMBY fashion, some Prospect-Lefferts Garden residents worried about the impact of housing for formerly homeless and incarcerated tenants in their midst. That was in 2010, and they have bigger things to worry about, like, oh, their neighborhood getting renamed. Fast forward to today, and the 22-unit building at 329 Lincoln Road, between Nostrand and Rogers, will be complete by the end of June. Nonprofit Providence House is operating the supportive housing, which will provide not only affordable apartments for both single women and mothers with young children, but also on-site staff and facilities for life skills coaching and family counseling as well as services related to substance abuse, mental health, and other challenges. Given the rapid pace of development over in PLG, it's refreshing to see a project that's not market-rate.
