A Chelsea flea market that's been operating out of a parking garage for the last two decades will sell its last tchotchke on June 28, as prolific developer John Lam moves forward with plans to raze the site and build a 270,000-square-foot hotel tower. Despite a rent scare in 2008, Antiques Garage was able to stick around on West 25th Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues because Extell, the garage's prior owner, had financial problems. But Lam bought the lot for $67.5 million last year, and he's ready to roll. [Crain's; previously]
