Fisher Bros. Plans Affordable Rentals with Pool for Murray Hill

Fisher Brothers, the developer behind multiple excessively tall Downtown residential projects, is bringing a 36-story residential building to Murray Hill, where it will, of course, replace a parking garage.

Department of Buildings permits to demolish the garage, located at 222 East 40th Street, were approved last week. In its place, 373 rental units will rise, 75 of which (20 percent) will be designated affordable housing. The affordable component will be targeted at New Yorkers making around 60 percent of the area median income, so a single person looking to live there would need to make around $35,280 while a family of four would need to make around $50,340. The building will also include such amenities as a gym, swimming pool, yoga studio, lounges, roof deck, parking, and bike storage. Hopefully those amenities will be offered to all the residents. The project is expected to open in 2017.
